Conservation Breeding

HELPING THE BREED THROUGH OWNERSHIP

Conservation Breeding is considerably different than most other types. We know that there are thousands of unwanted pets and animals worldwide, and we recognize that a large part of unwanted pets and livestock is due to over breeding. Most of us have heard the phrase "Don't breed and buy while others die", and we completely agree. However, there is a vast divide between breeding for profit and breeding to prevent extinction. It requires knowledge of the animals' heritage, their traits, and their DNA. We also know that the Newfoundland Pony, while perfect for Newfoundland, is not perfect for everyone. There are as many types of horse people as there are horses, and we try to find the best matches for the ponies we find.

OTHER LINKS TO FIND PONIES:

Facebook group Equus Survival Trust Rare Steeds is a wonderful group of people from all over who are dedicated to helping place ponies in new homes. Sometimes ponies that aren't able to be registered or are crosses are listed, are perfect for homes that love the breed but aren't able or interested in breeding.
